What is the right chandelier for my dining room

Choosing chandelier for dining room by the simplset ways.

One of the most haves in a restaurant is a chandelier. Chandeliers are not only for decoration and designs but for proper lighting also. They beautify a room and keep it well lit with beautiful colours and rays both in private dining rooms and restaurants. To choose an appropriate chandelier for a room, one needs to consider all aspects of the room, such as; room size, ceiling height, wall colour and expected lighting and effects. Continue reading for insight on how to select the right chandelier.

Standard Size Recommended
① Hanging height

For every ceiling 8ft in height, the recommendation is to have the space between your dining room table and the tip of the chandelier not be less than 30-36 inches. Furthermore, using the 8ft ceiling height as the reference point, there should always be a 3 inches distance between the tip of the chandler and the dining table for every additional foot.

By maintaining this height, the dining room will be well lit, and the effect will be visible all over the room, either in a private dining room or in a restaurant. When the size of a chandelier is very significant, with excellent artistic design to its credit, have it raised by a few inches within the standard visual height for a better view in the restaurant.

② Size

Another way to determine the diameter of a chandelier is to take the width of the dining table as a reference and choose a chandelier that is one foot smaller than the dining table. The lamp industry's standard requires that the chandelier's diameter be between half and one-third of the width of the dining table. When the dining table to chandelier ratio meets these criteria, it would be easy for people to avoid bumping their heads into the chandelier.

Choose A Color That Matches The Space

Your chandelier's style extends the room's style. Hence, always choose materials that echo life in your room. The best path to selecting a chandelier for a restaurant is by first taking into account the most prominent colour in the restaurant's room and the materials in that surroundings. If a restaurant has a bright colour, choose a chandelier with a light tone, and vice versa. However, if the restaurant is neutral, the range of possible colour selections for chandeliers tends to be more.

Choose Materials That Echo The Space

When decorating a restaurant, always ensure that everything matches even as you go for your favourite design style. For example, go for a chandelier with metallic elements if metals are your restaurant's most noticeable design elements.

Crystals are a widely used material in traditional chandeliers. However, modern homes tend to have chandeliers with lots of other materials. Branch chandelier decorated with materials such as stained glass, shiny metal, and bubble light bulbs are as glittering as those with crystal. The chandelier also has different kinds of natural materials such as ropes, shells, environmentally friendly wood, etc., making it more elegant. Be cautious about weight in this case because chandeliers are mostly heavier than most other types of lamps. Choose an appropriate installation point to avoid having your chandelier come tumbling to the ground. Always install an electric box for any chandelier that weighs more than 15 pounds. They are also ok for those weighing more than 150 pounds. Chandeliers need special installation hardware when their weight is over the standard weight.

Lastly, try hanging your chandelier over your dining table to test for lighting and decoration effects before the final installation. Doing so will help you make any necessary adjustments, including changing the chandelier for a more suitable one to give your restaurant the best look and lighting.
